Dmitry Kustanovich has had over 90 exhibitions in Portugal, Germany, Russia, France and the Netherlands. He has his own gallery in St Petersburg. His work is characterised by a specific attention to the surface of the painting, the picture plane being especially important in the formation of space within the image. Created using a palette knife, he constructs volume, which is multilayered and “polyphonic”, in fact he likens his fingers to those of a musician. He calls his sensual yet professional language of strokes “Oil Graphics”.
