Landscape in 2015: by what means can an artist put together a coherent image of our rapidly- changing urban and fast-disappearing rural surroundings?

Artists such as Emma Mapp respond to the need to act as witness to our times: landscape as reportage. Whereas some, like Jim Vincent, choose collage in an attempt to combine the multitude of visual ‘takes’ made possible by our 24/7 access to global information.

Yet when the sun shines, dystopian outlooks seem to fade as planes overhead meld harmoniously with birdsong.
