Boats offer artists a unique opportunity to explore an object and its surroundings. Boats will almost always be the centre point within an artwork which contains them, being such a magnificent creation which has allowed us to do so much. They can have many different backdrops and offer many different scenario’s.

Katarzyna Czajkowska uses ships as a centre point in her works. In “Storm” she gives us an image of boats battling through hardship to reach their goal. In “Sailing Ships” she gives us an image of the great boats of old that were used to discover much of the world.

Ivan Mitev gives us a totally different interpretation of boats with gondolas, which are used to get around Venice a city that without boats could not exist. In his 3 artworks he shows us these gondolas on the beautiful canals of Venice.
