Fire and ice are the genesis of creation, not balmy sunshine and gentle showers. This week we celebrate the two extremes, one representing passion, the other emotional stasis. Starting at the chillier end, we stumbled upon the enigmatic Antarctic paintings of Vikky Furse ’Late evening Antarctica with iceberg’ and ’Arctic Iceberg LHS’; then Andrew Fitchett’s magical ’Silver Birch Trees’, Susan Czopor’s stunning ’Joy in Winter 5’ and David Taylor’s ’Ice reflection.’ It just got better…. For fire, we found a bubbling cauldron of delights: Paul Shiers’ lyrical ’Fire storm in Mist’, Michelle Gibb’s cosmic ’Golden Fire’, Sergej Hahonin’s surrealistic ’Fire on the Pust’. And just as it was all getting a bit intense, there was Malgorzata Korenkiewicz’ delightfully flirty silk painting ’Have you got fire?’
