“At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.” Jean HoustonIn this quirky exhibition, our selected artists link Fun and Laughter to an imaginative world of the bizarre. Each depicts a creatively fantastical realm full of the absurd: a prison-break elephant, the sharp twists of Dali’s moustache, a dog dragging its owner and a multi-coloured zebra are whimsical, exciting and down-right bizarre. Humour here is contagious – we can’t help but laugh at titles like, ‘Flasher’, ‘Abduckted’ and ‘All the Single Ladies’ and we share the artists’ sense of childish mischief; compelled to look through the peep-hole, pop the multi-coloured balloons or stare down the ‘Goats on Guard’.
This is LondonArt’s most energetic exhibition. If you’re looking for an art work to brighten up a room, create conversation or cause a bit of a stir, have a look through these works of comedy and see if you can keep a straight face.
