I would sit on street corners alone and watch people and make up stories about them in my head. then, all of a sudden, i was the one being watched.” Alanis Morrisette. ‘Memories…like the corners of my mind’… or so the song goes. Corners can hide memories, things, or people. Yet corners can jut out too, like the stark edges of a modernist tower block. Street corners are still a place to hang out whilst corners make great compositional devices for artists, emphasising the dramatics of the diagonal; the edgy. Corners define a certain kind of physical and psychological space.
