“Any landscape is a condition of the spirit” Henri-Frederic Amiel In the 19th century, landscape painting had evolved into an independent genre not only as an image of human longing to nature (like it took place in Chinese art) but also as a symbol of a spiritual reality taken from Christianity. Image of Christ as a Light of the World has been extended on light itself, which became universal sign of good. In subsequent centuries, artists were fascinated by the idea of a painting as a way of metaphysical reflection. In his Critique of Judgment, Immanuel Kant claims that sublime can be found in nature by mind contemplating the landscape. Words of German philosopher continues not only the tradition of looking at the surrounding world as a something bigger than a singular human being but also as a something which can make our life better or just little bit more self-conscious.
