Light has always been the stuff of inspiration for painters. Its metaphorical allusions to warmth and spiritual illumination give rise to myriad scenarios both outside and inside.Sunshine sets alight Susan Czopor’s Mexican – inspired riot of colour and Satoshi Matsuyama’s tropical vistas. The more pensive afterglow of the setting sun is the source of the calm but powerful quiet works by Adele Gibson and Michelle Gibbs. Figurative works are well represented here too and a subtle glow brings warmth to the figures in Corinna Button’s embracing couple, Martin Wall’s “Nude Torso” and Louis Lander-Deacon’s amazing “Infect”.
