As the children bound enthusuastically back to school, to acquire knowledge, absorb teachings and endure testing, ask yourself: what do you remember from your own schooldays? What stuck with you and why?

Artist John D. Gall’s intaglio pieces illustrate theoretical tableaux including “Useless Knowledge” but the imagined conversation between Socrates and Einstein is what preoccupies Evanthia Balla.

Whilst Sergej Hahonin, like Degas, draws inspiration from young ladies practising ballet, Magda Pelc photographs a seed, imagining it about to take off! Yes, education is lifelong and even the smallest examples of flora and fauna have things to teach us.
