“Two things awe me most, the starry sky above me and the moral law within me.” – Immanuel KantThe sky gives us the day and the night; it allows us to look out past our world, up to the stars and the moon giving us great wonder and awe. The sun, the moon and the clouds give the sky many different faces, this is what inspires artists. The clouds give the sky texture and can take many different shapes and sizes as shows David Watmough in ‘Clouds over Rocky Landscape’. One incredible thing about clouds is if you get high enough up you can see above them as Frank Ash demonstrates in his ‘Above the Clouds’. The Sun often battles with the clouds trying to fight its way through them, to blast sunlight upon the world this effect is amazing as shown by Simon Fairless in his photography. Andrew Fyfe’s photography on the other hand, shows the clouds and the sun working together to create a wonderful colour in the sky, and Andrew captures this magnificently.
